Tilbury Douglas, a UK-based building, infrastructure, engineering, and fit-out business, has completed the build of Knowl Park House for Kirklees Council.
Knowl Park House is a state-of-the-art dementia daycare centre and Centre of Excellence for Kirklees Council.
The project was delivered through the Crown Commercial Service Construction Works Framework, which enables public sector organisations to access various building and civil engineering projects.

The new single-storey daycare centre provides 25 places and meets the University of Stirling’s Gold Standard for dementia-friendly environments.
The centre also features four distinct zones:
- Home Therapy
- Wellbeing
- Arts and Crafts
- a Garden Zone
These zones were designed to offer a stimulating and supportive environment for service users.
Alongside the daycare centre there is an assisted technology area showcasing the latest advancements in dementia care, and a demonstration bungalow for hands-on learning
Additionally, the centre includes staff welfare areas, dining and kitchen spaces, and hygiene rooms for both comfort and practicality.

Community involvement was central to the project’s success. Social value initiatives included:
- Participation in Build UK’s Open Doors programme
- Educational outreach through guest lectures and site visits
- Fundraising for Reach Academy’s new construction workshop

Volunteers also supported the Happy Memories dementia café and assisted Mirfield in Bloom in rejuvenating the Hopton New Road Bridge.
