G4S Facilities Management awarded £4.1m contract extension at Sunderland Royal Hospital
New deal includes take-over of ward hostess service
G4S Facilities Management has had its cleaning contract at Sunderland Royal Hospital extended for three years and new services added.
The contract, which has been in place since 2011, is worth £3.5m per year and will be boosted by an extra £600,000 following the addition of the ward hostess service.
Around 60 staff from City Hospitals Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust are expected to transfer to G4S when the hostess service goes live on 1 April, bringing the total number of G4S FM staff on site to over 300.
A spokesperson for the trust said: “This is another key stage in the development of the partnership approach to maximise the expertise and experience of a partner such as G4S, which will be reflected by an enhanced service to our patients and staff alike.”
Stuart Mold, FM director for G4S Facilities Management, added: “We are very proud to be continuing to provide FM services to the trust at Sunderland Royal Hospital. With a partnership approach and by working together proactively, we can deliver high -quality services more efficiently for the NHS.”
