Creative workshop aids mental health

A CREATIVE workshop held at Kirkgate Community Centre in Shipley has kick-started an innovative project to support people with mental health problems in Bradford. Working in conjunction with an art trainer, people who use Bradford District Care Trust's adult mental health day services produced postcards in response to the question "Can you imagine how I feel?" Those attending the session designed their unique cards through a range of art and craft techniques and each put a personal message on the back. Carl Challinor, one of the project organisers, said: "The project gives people the opportunity to express how they are feeling. People are then encouraged to share their postcards with others in the project. Through mailing work to and receiving work from peers it helps to extend the informal support network between service users."
