Bramacare opens transitional accommodation for eating-disorder recovery in Ipswich

The Birch Group has completed construction on a five-flat facility on Princes Street in Ipswich to support adults transitioning from specialist eating disorder treatment to independent living

Private mental healthcare provider Bramacare has opened a five-flat supported-living facility in Ipswich to help adults recovering from complex eating disorders transition from specialist treatment to independent living.

Located on Princes Street, the facility comprises five self-contained flats, each with a kitchen, bathroom and bedroom.

The facility was built by The Birch Group, an Ipswich-based construction and development company.

The new service extends Bramacare’s existing care pathway at The White House, its specialist residential eating-disorder service on Limerick Close in Ipswich.

It is designed for people who have made significant progress in their recovery but still need therapeutic and dietetic support before returning home or moving into independent accommodation.

Residents are encouraged to build practical life skills and establish daily routines through activities such as studying, employment, volunteering and community engagement.

The service aims to help residents sustain their recovery as they move towards greater independence, with continued support intended to reduce the risk of relapse or readmission.

The opening comes ahead of World Mental Health Day on 10 October, which in 2026 focuses on listening to people’s lived experiences and translating them into improvements in mental health care.

“Recovery from an eating disorder does not stop when someone leaves specialist care,” said Jack Abbott, Labour MP for Ipswich.

“The months that follow are often the hardest, and people need the right support around them to make that recovery last.”

“Residents have their own space and the freedom to rebuild everyday routines, while knowing that specialist therapeutic and dietetic support remains close by,” said Laetitia Beaujard-Ramoo, CEO at Bramacare.
