Bouygues UK has been appointed as lead contractor for the design and construction of the new Overdale Acute Hospital in Jersey.
The appointment by the Government of Jersey follows the completion of the procurement process for the hospital’s main works contract, with Bouygues UK confirmed as the project’s main works delivery partner.
The new acute hospital forms part of the New Healthcare Facilities Programme and is being delivered as a major investment in Jersey’s healthcare infrastructure.
The facility will include emergency care, operating theatres, inpatient and critical care beds, and dedicated Women’s and Children’s services.
The project will require careful logistics planning due to Jersey’s island location, with materials and supply chains managed through UK and French operations.
Bouygues UK will work with the New Healthcare Facilities Programme team to deliver the project, building on its experience delivering complex healthcare schemes across the UK and Europe.
The company has previously delivered more than 400 healthcare facilities worldwide, including major hospital projects.
The Overdale Acute Hospital is being developed following the completion of site clearance and preparatory works, with construction progressing as part of the wider healthcare facilities programme.
Bouygues UK’s appointment follows its selection as preferred tenderer for the project, when the contractor began working with the Government of Jersey to refine proposals, confirm supply chains and prepare for main works delivery.
“The partnership with the Government of Jersey and the NHFP team to reach this point has been extremely collaborative and productive, and we look forward to working together to…create lasting social benefits for the community throughout construction and beyond,” said Philippe Bernard, Chair and CEO at Bouygues UK.
