Work starts on £35m revamp of St Ann's Hospital

Listed building improvements and new inpatient facilities to enhance services at Poole site


Work has started on the £35m revamp of St Ann’s Hospital in Poole.

Vinci Construction and joint venture partner, IHP Healthcare Services, have begun work on site as part of the ProCure21+ project.

The improvements include repairs to the east end of the listed building, the replacement of an existing metal staircase, and alterations to an existing reception counter. A new two-storey facility with integral plant level will also be built to accommodation an 82-bed long-stay ward, a 16-bed male treatment ward and a 14-bed acute admissions unit, as well as provision of a new combined entrance to, and extension of, the existing 1980s facility.

Works is expected to take19 months.

The architects for the project are Nightingale Associates.
