Partners to update community on multi-million pound revamp

NHS Property Services and Amber Solutions for Care are holding a public meeting to update members of the Henley community about the progress of the new Townlands Hospital development.

The meeting will take place on Wednesday 3 September at 7.30pm in the Town Hall council chamber.

There will be an update from all partners involved in the development of the project including NHS Property Services, Amber Solutions for Care, and VINCI Construction UK.

At the end of the meeting members of the public will have an opportunity to ask any questions about the progress of the build to date as well as the next stage of the project.

James Wakeham, regional director for the South at NHS Property Services, said: “It is really important for us that we keep the community of Townlands up to date on the progress made so far as well as the plans for the next stage of the development. This is a great opportunity for people to ask questions about the build as well as give us feedback about the work so far.”

Mike Leto, project director for Amber Solutions for Care, added: “We are looking forward to presenting a timetable of the next stage of work that is due to take place over the next couple of months and what this will mean for the town.”

The new hospital forms a key element of South Oxfordshire District Council’s plan for the development of the Henley-on-Thames area.

The central part of the new site will be devoted to healthcare and will provide a variety of services, including inpatient, outpatient and ambulatory care, X-ray, podiatry, physiotherapy and dentistry. There will also be a specialist 12-bed hospice. On the remainder of the site, Oxfordshire County Council and its partners will develop a 64-bed care home, while the existing land and listed buildings will be adapted and extended to provide 32 assisted living apartments and 12 new keyworker residences.

Construction is expected to be completed late next year.
