Profile
We are a talented, creative team of around 100 with a shared ambition to work collaboratively, to make healthcare better. Our knowledge and expertise is founded on over 40 years of experience giving us a deep understanding of the challenges and specific requirements of the healthcare sector.
With four studios, our teams work throughout the UK in every aspect of healthcare design for both the NHS and private providers. Services include architecture, interior design, estates rationalisation, feasibility studies, business cases, masterplanning and project management
As a trusted partner in healthcare with an exemplary delivery record, we consistently demonstrate exceptional design and technical knowledge, embedding true value into every project.
From modest refurbishments to major reconfigurations, extensions and new builds, delivering large scale new projects or complex estate rationalisations, we apply the same enthusiasm, expertise and passion for designing outstanding healthcare.
We work in all sectors: acute, primary, mental health, older age and specialist care, designing critically acclaimed schemes that deliver benefit and improve healthcare outcomes. Our desire is to create better places for people to live, work and be cared for.
Successful projects are about people; those who commission, conceive, use, design, and construct them. The start of our design process begins with intelligent listening and a positive environment for creative thinking. This coupled with our knowledge and experience allows us to work together with clients and colleagues to deliver buildings that delight, that function well and provide high long term value. Our open, team approach aims to give all stakeholders a voice in the design process, producing buildings that function efficiently on all levels, offer highly therapeutic facilities and represent the best value for our clients.
Above all we are endlessly passionate about what we do.

Northern Centre for Cancer Care, Carlisle
A new £35M scheme developed in partnership between North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust and Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to provide cancer services of the highest quality to the people of north, west and east Cumbria. The modern state-of-the-art building means that care will be available closer to home and, with non-surgical cancer services together under one roof, will avoid patients having to move around to different parts of the infirmary.
The team consulted widely on the project, using input from a broad range of stakeholders as they carefully considered and thoughtfully crafted design proposals. Every element of the design centres on people; how they might use and experience the building, with the aim of creating the best possible experience for staff, patients, carers, or relatives.
“It’s a bright, energised building. A striking piece of architecture that stands out. It’s light and airy and a pleasure to be in.”
