Lincoln County Hospital has completed a new £26.5m endoscopy unit that will begin treating patients in September, replacing an ageing modular facility.
The project was delivered by Bowmer + Kirkland, one of the largest privately-owned construction and development groups in the UK.
The 1,972 sqm purpose-built building features four endoscopy treatment rooms, with space to increase capacity to six in the future, alongside individual en-suite patient rooms, a reception area, dedicated staff facilities and training spaces.
Construction began in January 2025 on land at the edge of the hospital site off St Anne's Road.
The development replaces a 36-year-old modular building that was no longer fit for purpose.
The expanded facility is designed to improve access to endoscopy services, which are used to diagnose conditions including gastrointestinal cancers, ulcers and inflammatory diseases.
By increasing the number of procedure rooms from three to four, the hospital expects to treat more patients while reducing waiting times.
The building also incorporates energy-efficient features, landscaped gardens, dedicated patient parking and a drop-off area.
Trees removed during construction have been offset through a partnership with Wilder Doddington, while replacement parking has been created elsewhere on the hospital site.
The development has also achieved a Secured by Design Gold Award, recognising the integration of crime prevention measures into the building's layout and design.
