The Quality Team for NHS England has been working on a project to identify, celebrate, and share good practices in medical education across London.
As part of this, West London NHS Trust’s Older People's Mental Health Service has been commended for its continuous improvement in training.
The Quality Team looked at the GMC National Training Survey feedback since 2019, which shows year-on-year improvement.
In the 2023 GMC National Training Survey, 92% of doctors in training described the Trust as a supportive environment
In 2023, West London NHS Trust's older adult training posts had two green feedback scores, which were above the national average.
Also, there has been consistent improvement in areas such as clinical supervision, handover of care, adequate experience, local teaching, and trainees' experience of feeling supported.
In the 2023 GMC National Training Survey, 92% of doctors in training described the Trust as a supportive environment and 84% would recommend their post to a friend.

The next survey opens in March 2024.
