Care home operator among first to benefit from dementia funding

HC-One appoints GVA to oversee refurbishment of five care homes as part of Government\'s £50m dementia fund


Property consultancy, GVA, has been appointed by care home operator, HC-One, to act as project manager and cost consultant for the refurbishment of five care homes across the North West and North East as part of the Government’s £50m fund to create pioneering care environments for people with dementia.

GVA will project manage the refurbishment of five of HC-One’s seven care home projects, based in Bury, Knowsley, Ashton-Under-Lyne, Salford and Bishops Aukland. It will act as cost consultant for the projects while co-ordinating and managing the design teams carrying out the refurbishment work.

Stephen Martin, director at GVA, said: “This instruction builds on our experience and expertise in the healthcare sector and we look forward to successfully managing and co-ordinating the projects on behalf of HC-One to ensure the funding secured through this Government scheme is well spent.”

Gordon Asher, senior project manager for HC-One, added: “Our aim is to provide the kindest care and the Government’s dementia funding will help us continue to meet this aim.”
