Refurbishment of Leith Surgery completed

Work has been completed on the new £1.17m Leith Surgery.

Up to an extra 2,000 patients will be added to the surgery list as a result of the move from two separate sites to a single building based in an historic A-listed Edinburgh property that was once part of Leith Central Station.

The refurbishment work was carried out by Westerwood Development Group, represented by commercial property advisers, Bilfinger GVA.

David Hodgkinson, managing partner at HK Surveying and Design, the architect behind the project, said: “This is an important facility for the local community and will breathe new life into an iconic building in Leith’s history which has lain idle for a number of years.

“Both the surgery and NHS Lothian should be praised in allowing us to implement a modern and unique concept for healthcare design which we hope provides an inviting, contemporary space; both sensitive to patients needs and offering a vibrant working environment for the staff.”
