Caddick Construction has completed work on the new Moya Cole Hospice in Heald Green.

Moya Cole Hospice is a charity in Greater Manchester, England, providing palliative care.

This new work enables the charity to provide inpatient and outpatient care, as well as bereavement support for those impacted by life-limiting illnesses across Greater Manchester.

The new development, located within the boundary of the Cheadle Royal conservation area, is made up of two buildings connected by a linked corridor.

The build features a modernised 27-bedroom inpatient unit and fitted with Photovoltaic (PV) panels to help reduce energy costs.

Each patient's bedroom has direct access to the hospice gardens, with doors wide enough to allow a bed to be wheeled out if necessary.

Work also included the creation of dedicated bereavement and family support spaces, a Being You centre for outpatient services, family overnight accommodation, a cafe, and offices and training facilities.

Moya Cole Hospice, formerly St Ann’s Hospice, and named in memory of founder Dr Moya Cole OBE, funded the new £27m development, in part thanks to the support of the community with fundraising efforts and generous public donations, raising over £2m as part of the Build it Together appeal.

Caddick has completed a few notable healthcare builds in recent years, including United Healthcare Developments’ carbon-neutral healthcare centre in Carlisle, and Vida Healthcare’s £10.8m specialist dementia care facility in Harrogate.

Fundraising for the hospice

Caddick Construction has supported the charity and contributed to its appeal, raising money prior to work commencing and throughout the project, which has resulted in a total donation of £95,000 to the hospice.

Caddick’s North West team’s efforts included a charity golf day and taking on challenges, including a 220-mile cycle ride from Llandudno to Cardiff. The team also climbed Snowdon, involving colleagues, clients and supply chain partners from across the region.

Christmas Jumper Day 2025 was marked across Caddick’s North West offices and project sites, raising funds for Moya Cole Hospice to continue its vital work to provide much-needed specialist palliative care to patients.

Rachel McMillan, Chief Executive of Moya Cole Hospice, acknowledged the work carried out by Caddick on the new hospice building in Heald Green: “Throughout the project, Caddick has demonstrated a professional and collaborative approach to delivering the building. They have helped us bring a long‑held plan to completion, and we appreciate the part they have played, alongside the valuable contribution of our architects, PRP.

“We would also like to recognise the work of Genr8 Developments as project managers and all the valuable work from a huge number of individuals, suppliers, agencies and specialist consultants who have made this possible.

“Now that the site has been handed over, we are preparing the hospice to welcome our first patients and their loved ones very soon.”

Dave Saville, Regional Managing Director of Caddick Construction North West, commented: “The vital care and support this development will provide the community has always been at the forefront of our work, ensuring it is delivered to the highest standards.

“The staff at Moya Cole are more than just clients to us, and I’m proud of the support our team has demonstrated, both prior to the commencement of work and throughout the project, with their dedicated fundraising efforts."
