Assura Group starts on site in Harlech

Assura Group has started on site at its latest development, a 7,100sq ft GP surgery in Harlech, North Wales.

The scheme is delivered in partnership with developer Amcen Cyfyngedig and will see the Ardudwy Health Centre relocate from its current site at Ffordd y Traeth.

The £1.6million primary care centre will also be home to the Local Health Board, which is taking 546sq ft of space.

This is the latest of several projects currently underway by Assura Group in Wales, including the construction of health centres in Gelligaer, Milford Haven and Y Felinheli with a total value of around £8m. The building is expected to complete by spring 2014 and is set to achieve a BREEAM ‘excellent’ rating.

Amanda Roddy, development manager at Assura Group, said: “It is great to reach this stage on yet another project with Amcen Cyfyngedig. We are committed to developing modern and well-equipped health centres for communities across Wales, and are very much looking forward to seeing our plans come to fruition.”

Mark Roberts of Amcen Cyfyngedig added: “The quality of GP premises is extremely important, with rising demand, diversifying services and cost-cutting measures increasing the pressure on primary care delivery. Completion of this project will see Ardudwy Health Centre operating from a property that is fit for purpose and supports its vision for patient care now and into the future.”

The architect on the scheme is WM Design & Architecture, with Williams Homes Bala carrying out construction work.
