South Tees trust deploys Medworxx patient flow technology
Technology manages and improves patient flow to cut length of stay and improve care co-ordination
South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in the UK has selected Medworxx patient flow technology to standardise decision-making for admissions and discharge.
The trust will implement the software across its acute care, virtual hospital, rehabilitation and continuing care services.
The Medworxx concurrent embedded tool is based on internationally-validated clinical criteria and is designed to recognise obstacles and delays to discharge, thereby cutting the lengths of stay and allowing suitable care transitions.
The patient flow technology, along with Medworxx utilisation management, Medworxx bed board, and Medworxx assessments will enable the hospitals to address issues such as overcapacity, wait times and care co-ordination.
Sue Watson, South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s operations director, said: "We are eager to demonstrate how the benefits to our patients and the use of our resources, indicated in the diagnostic review, can be sustained and built on through embedding the Medworxx tool as part of our current case management project."
Initially a bed census audit was performed at the trust by a Medworxx UK partner, ModelAdvice DC Consulting, which was helpful in identifying patient flow challenges and barriers in addition to potential benefits.
