INFECTION control leaders at the University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust used a few rhythmic dance moves and some 70s music to get their message across to staff recently. The trust has put together an eye-catching video featuring staff members dancing to The Village People's YMCA. Rewritten to address the issue of MRSA and the importance of cleanliness and handwashing, the video is part of the trust's Infection Prevention - It's Everyone's Responsibility campaign. Spokeswoman, Susan Osborne, said "Using our own staff brings the message closer to home, so it is absolutely clear to everyone that this is an issue that affects them, their colleagues and their patients. It also demonstrates ownership and commitment by people at all levels of the organisation to infection prevention."
