£3.5m redevelopment of Church Hill Medical and Neighbourhood Centre unveiled

Work has finished on the £3.5m redevelopment of Church Hill Medical and Neighbourhood Centre in Redditch, Worcestershire.

The 17,000sq ft building was delivered in partnership with LSP Developments. It combines a number of different medical services in one centre on the first floor. The new facilities include a pharmacy, dentist and GP surgery, plus a number of retail units.

A further residential phase is currently being developed by Bellway Homes and is expected to complete in 2014.

Dr McGregor & Partners’ relocation to the site has allowed the practice to increase its patient capacity by around 3,000.

The new Church Hill Medical and Neighbourhood Centre is Assura Group’s second development in the Midlands region to complete during the past month. The £2.5m Willington Medical Centre reached completion in early October.

Amanda Roddy, development manager at Assura Group, said: “Integrating services is crucial to relieving pressure on community primary care practices as well as hospitals. We’re pleased that the local communities have been so enthusiastic in getting behind improvements to their medical services. The new centre will provide a great deal of support to the area for years to come.”

Dr Catherine McGregor of Dr McGregor & Partners, added: “The increased capacity and high-quality facilities will make a vast improvement to the services that we can offer. There was a lot of campaigning prior to the centre’s development, so it’s exciting to finally be experiencing the finished result.”

And Ed Sutton, managing director at LSP Developments, said: “Redditch Borough Council selected LSP Developments and Bellway Homes as its preferred development partner for the reprovision of Church Hill District Centre in spring 2010. Since then the respective teams have worked tirelessly to make the scheme a viable proposition. LSP was instrumental in including the surgery within the development, which has complemented the retail users relocated from the original centre, to provide a truly integrated facility which will benefit the Church Hill community for many years to come.”

The project was designed by West Hart Partnership.
