SUPPORT services at the newly-built Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Scotland will run more smoothly following the introduction of 100 handheld computers. Psion has provided its Ikon devices to staff working for Serco, which has been contracted to provide support services such as estate management, portering, catering and security at the hospital. Employees will be issued with the mobile computers, which can be used across the site. Gordon Reid, Serco's IT manager at Forth Valley, said: "After a thorough evaluation, we chose Psion for this project because Ikon outperformed all the other products, particularly on robustness and battery life."
