Plans for surgery expansion in Aylesbury
Closure of branch surgery paves the way for extension to Mandeville Surgery
A planning application has been submitted for a major expansion and improvements to the Mandeville Surgery in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire.
Assura Group has drafted the application in partnership with Dr Beck and Partners, the proposed development will provide additional consulting, treatment and administration rooms alongside a new pharmacy. Additional car parking will also be created for patients and staff.
The surgery, which will stay open during the works, is in need of additional space following the closure of its branch clinic at Elmhurst Road. The proposed works will futureproof the building and assist in the regeneration of the local area, which has been led by improvements to the adjacent Walton Court district centre, including new shops and housing.
Simon Gould, development manager at Assura Group, said: “The proposed extensions to the surgery will provide much-needed additional space for the doctors and a co-located pharmacy will provide a convenient service for patients. The benefits to the local community are huge and we hope that the plans will be accepted.”
Dr Gill Beck of Mandeville Practice, added: "Since the closure of our branch surgery we have been pushing for an extension to the Mandeville building to provide the extra rooms which would enable us to improve the service to our patients. The addition of extra facilities will allow us to develop our services in the future and ensure that patients receive the best care and service possible.”
A decision on the planning application is expected in September. Plans are currently being displayed in the surgery waiting rooms.
