A Leeds NHS trust is helping to foster relationships with medtech innovators in Israel.
As part of the newly-launched Leeds-Israel Innovation Healthtech Gateway, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust will help to foster collaboration and support high-growth Israeli tech firms on their expansion to the UK.
The first-of-its-kind project has the potential to produce jobs and add value to both economies.
A pioneer in the development of the gateway is Israel based healthtech company, IMedis, which is working in collaboration with Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust to help scale up the world’s-first AI-powered quality assurance system for radiology scans.
Founded in Israel in 2018, the company helps radiology departments by automatically analysing every image and accompanying report to uncover any failure points. The system aims to enhance radiology performance, reduce legal risks to providers, and improve outcomes for patients.
Aviel Blumenfeld, chief executive and co-founder at Imedis, said: “We joined Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust to gain a foothold for IMedis in the UK because it provides an established framework for the development, adoption and spread of innovation within the NHS.
“Working with the trust’s award-winning Innovation Pop Up has offered our company access to dedicated support and project advice.
“The Leeds healthcare environment is very supportive of people who are creating practical innovations to save lives, help staff, and improve patient care and we are very excited to be working with this forward-looking trust.”
Dame Linda Pollard, trust chairman, added: “This is a fantastic initiative which will enable us to strengthen our links with Israel and the health sector businesses which are at the leading edge of innovation in healthcare technology."
