Infection control nurses take to the wards

Published: 6-May-2011

Infection control nurse advisors visited all wards at City, Sandwell and Rowley hospitals in Birmingham recently to discuss MRSA as part of a trust-wide roadshow. Nurse, Heather May, from Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust, said: "The roadshow was organised to promote the trust's new MRSA policy, new cleaning wipes and the importance of hand hygiene in the trust's fight against MRSA. It was held not only to raise awareness of MRSA prevention and control issues to staff, but also to highlight to patients and visitors how important it is to wash their hands before entering and leaving ward and clinical areas so that infections are prevented from spreading."
