IN A NEW collaboration, renowned artist, Harold Riley, will display works in Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust's new hospital building. The organisation will show a specially-commissioned collection of 250 original pieces in its new Hope Building, which houses A and E, renal, intestinal failure, critical care and urology facilities. A local man, Riley said: "I have lived almost all my life with my family within a stone's throw of this hospital, therefore it gives me feeling of warmth and compassion to know that people who are doctors, nurses, patients and passers-by will see my pictures in such a place. My life's work is simply my heartfelt feelings for what has visually moved me in my life, and showing them on the walls of this hospital is one of the greatest privileges I have known." The trust's director of strategy and development, Simon Neville, added: "People may not imagine a hospital being a place for works of art, but we know there are strong links between art and health and wellbeing." The works will include photographs, monographs, sporting images and portraits.
