Floyd Slaski Architects, a specialist in healthcare architecture, is leading the development of a new respiratory support unit at Princess Royal University Hospital.

The project is in collaboration with King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

In particular, Floyd Slaski Architects will develop the Outpatients E, G&A Ward.

This project includes 12 RSU bed bays, complemented by essential supporting facilities.

The project also includes contrasting colour-coded bed bays, bedroom corridor walls, and surrounding areas.

The colour-coded environment will provide patients with visual cues that will aid them in recognising and identifying their location within the unit, reducing confusion and contributing to a more comfortable and supportive care environment.

Patients, especially those with degenerative conditions like dementia, benefit significantly from colour-coded environments.

In line with this commitment to innovation, the hospital incorporates Draeger pendants strategically throughout the RSU project, leveraging cutting-edge technology to enhance patient care.

The project will also include amenities for staff including:

  • Restroom
  • Regen kitchen
  • Changing area
  • Interview room
