Bostik has been selected by commercial flooring contractor, Pinnacle Flooring, to supply a range of preparation products for the new £22m Stratford Hospital development.

The project, built in the centre of Stratford-upon-Avon for South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust, includes 5,300sq m of space spread across three floors.

This is approximately twice the size of the current hospital.

The new building will house specialist cancer and eye units, making state-of-the-art treatment much more accessible to those living in Stratford and the surrounding communities.

Working with Pinnacle Flooring, Bostik supplied a sub-floor preparation package to cover approximately 4,000sq m of the new development. Products used included the Bostik Screedmaster One Coat Membrane, Screedmaster Universal Primer, and Screedmaster Ultimate levelling compound.

Before work could commence, the Bostik technical team undertook an inspection of the floor screed, which showed that the concrete surface was heavily textured with ridges in some areas. To combat this, they recommended a pre-smooth of the floor using Screedmaster Ultimate levelling compound.

To improve the flow and curing characteristics of the levelling compound, an even coating of Screedmaster Universal Primer was first applied. The primer’s quick-drying properties made it an ideal solution to help minimise downtime on site.

Once the subfloor was primed and the Screedmaster Ultimate had been used to smooth and level the uneven screed; an even film of Screedmaster One Coat Membrane was applied to ensure floor coverings would be protected from any residual moisture.

A final layer of Screedmaster Ultimate was then applied to give a superior finish on which to bond the vinyl floor coverings.
