New £7m Stratford CDC set to open June 2025

Published: 29-May-2025

The CDC will host diagnostic services, including mammography, ultrasound, and CT, which will open in phases from June 2025 as part of the NHS national programme

Construction is advancing on the Stratford Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC), a £7 million project designed to expand access to diagnostic services in Warwickshire.

The scheme is being delivered with £6 million in national programme funding and a £1 million Community Infrastructure Levy grant from Stratford-on-Avon District Council.

The new facility is part of NHS England’s national Community Diagnostic Centre programme, which aims to provide a range of elective diagnostic tests away from acute hospital sites, easing pressure on hospital services and improving patient access.

Once complete, the Stratford CDC will offer mammography, ultrasound, respiratory, cardiology and CT services to local residents through a phased opening schedule starting in June 2025. The go-live dates are as follows:

  • Mammography: Monday 9 June 2025

  • Ultrasound: Monday 16 June 2025

  • Respiratory: Monday 23 June 2025

  • Cardiology: Monday 23 June 2025

  • CT: Monday 14 July 2025

Councillor Susan Juned, Leader of Stratford-on-Avon District Council, said: “Having a locally available Diagnostic Centre will be helpful in providing early diagnosis and healthy outcomes for our residents. We need to provide proper health infrastructure as part of the development, so I am glad that the funding was able to relieve pressure on the NHS and provide a useful, needed service.”

The Stratford CDC represents a significant investment in local healthcare infrastructure and forms part of a broader national strategy to improve diagnostic provision across England.
