The James Cook University Hospital, part of the South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, has officially opened its new endovascular suite, which boasts a state-of-the-art ceiling-mounted Artis zee angiography system.
The equipment, supplied by Siemens Healthcare, is being used for a variety of procedures including endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR), stent grafts, angioplasty and surgical and radiological services. With a large flat detector and motorised C-arm, it can be flexibly and rapidly positioned around the patient. The system also features the syngo DynaCT application, rapidly delivering 3D cross-sectional images and negating the need for an additional CT scan.
“The Artis zee is pivotal to our new endovascular suite,” said Richard Hartley, consultant interventional radiologist at the hospital. “Now that we have an Artis zee within a theatre-specification environment, we have expanded our services and can conduct hybrid procedures, safe in the knowledge that they are supported by excellent image quality.”
