Work is advancing rapidly at the new Stoke‑on‑Trent Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) in Hanley, with the University Hospitals of North Midlands (UHNM) executives reporting that the facility is on track for its planned April opening.
The £42.6m centre, being built on the former Sainsbury’s site on Etruria Road, is designed to increase local access to essential diagnostic services and reduce pressure on hospital facilities, particularly Royal Stoke University Hospital.
VINCI Construction UK is the principal contractor for the Stoke CDC project, and Banyards has been appointed to provide commissioning verification services.
During a recent site visit, members of UHNM’s leadership team observed ongoing works to fit out clinical spaces and install specialist equipment ahead of the launch.
Contractors and estates teams have been working seven days a week to maintain the project timeline.
In recent weeks, key preparations have included the delivery of imaging equipment, infection control testing within the sample processing area, and deployment of fixtures and fittings across clinical areas.
