University Hospital of South Manchester selects Allscripts’ Sunrise

Sunrise suite provides integrated health records to enhance patient care


University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (UHSM) has selected the Allscripts Sunrise platform as its new Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system to enhance care co-ordination for healthcare providers, patients and families.

UHSM is a major acute teaching hospital based in Wythenshawe, Manchester. With the Sunrise suite, its plans to transform its clinical practice by delivering integrated care records from admission through discharge, actively engaging patients in their healthcare experience and enabling EPR integration with other health organisations. The goal is to improve patient safety, clinical effectiveness and the quality of patient outcomes in a way that can be continuously measured and improved.

"The focus at UHSM is the provision of high-quality and safe care for our patients. Purchasing and implementing an Electronic Patient Record system is an important step towards becoming on of the top 10 NHS providers in the country," said trust chief executive, Dr Attila Vegh.

He added: “Allscripts Sunrise is an Electronic Patient Record system that has a strong track record for delivering benefits for both patients and staff. The system is utilised in hospitals in the UK and around the world, enabling UHSM to harness its experience to revolutionise the provision of care.

“The system will enable us to transform the way we work, and as a project will empower clinical staff to lead the new design of the system and service redesign across the whole pathway of care for patients."
