Best practice, great ideas and service solutions for NHS under spotlight at awards event

The Academy of Fabulous NHS Stuff, an online resource set up to share examples of best practice, great ideas and service solutions for the health service, has held its first awards ceremony, singling out the cream of the crop from this year’s ideas.

The website was set up earlier this year by health market commentator, Roy Lilley, to act as a repository for ideas for improving the NHS.

Visited by 1,000 people every day, the site provides ideas and solutions that are replicable and transferable to other care settings.

The award winners were voted for by visitors to the website and they were announced at an informal ceremony held at the Village Underground in central London.

Lilley said: “The NHS is full of great ideas and Fab NHS Stuff has become a repository of excellence and innovation. Our followers do amazing things and, by sharing these posts, we’re ensuring we don’t reinvent the wheel, but continue to learn from each other.

“Today's celebration of fabness is our way of recognising and promoting the great stuff happening in the NHS every day. It is also our opportunity to say a huge thank you to the fabulous people who are determined to make a difference.”

The winners were:

5127 Award: 5 Boroughs Partnership NHS Foundation Trust’s ‘Street triage for people in mental health crisis’ – A scheme that prevents people who are having a mental health crisis being detained in police custody.
