eSie Fusion imaging and multi-modality review via ultrasound launched into UK

Siemens Healthcare has introduced the ACUSON S3000 ultrasound system, the latest addition to its ultrasound portfolio.

The ACUSON S3000™ premium diagnostic ultrasound system, was recently launched into the UK by Siemens Healthcare at a special event during UKRC 2012 in Manchester. It was unveiled to clinicians and introduced the premium functionality and features. A variety of presentations were delivered including ultrasound fusion imaging and early experiences of Siemens’ unique suite of tissue strain analytics applications for both musculoskeletal and liver imaging.

The ACUSON S3000 ultrasound system features eSie™ Fusion imaging enabling the automatic fusion of CT volumes with one click as well as providing a simplified method for fusion of MR volumes with ultrasound. This reduces the time taken on manual steps and can reduce the number of follow-up CT scans required. A range of applications are available for the system, including Virtual Touch™ IQ, a new strain imaging technology that simultaneously displays colour-coded tissue stiffness and shear wave velocity measurements in a single image. The application allows visual assessment of lesions, provides stiffness characteristics and supplies simultaneous quantitative evaluation in a simplified process.

“It was very exciting to see the latest developments in ultrasound technology,” said Sarah Whittaker, Imaging Manager at BMI Alexandra Hospital. In addition to learning about the future of ultrasound, particularly major advances in lesion identification, the launch event for the ACUSON S3000 system provided us with the chance to network with imaging colleagues and Siemens representatives – it was an excellent event.”

The ACUSON S3000 system is a flexible ultrasound imaging solution designed to increase diagnostic confidence, streamline departmental workflow and expand the range of procedures available to perform,” states Bernadette Leonard, Regional Sales Manager and Acting UK Business Manager, Ultrasound Products at Siemens Healthcare. “It is a valuable addition to the Siemens ultrasound portfolio and those who are familiar with the existing range of ACUSON systems will appreciate the similar user-friendly capabilities and ergonomic design. suitable for a range of purposes from general imaging, obstetrics, paediatric and gynaecology.
