Redweb has designed and built a brand new website for The Royal College of Surgeons (RCS), a professional membership organisation for surgeons. The new website is built on Sitecore 8.1, allowing for more streamlined functionality on a more powerful platform.
The work being carried out on RCS’s digital estate is part of a wider transformation programme involving a major redevelopment of RCS’s prestigious London home to create a modern new headquarters for UK surgery while preserving the organisation’s heritage. To accommodate the project, the digital estate needed to be able to handle back office functionality and allow members to self-serve as much as possible.
The new website has a host of features and functionalities, and enables users to progress through their surgical career, book and pay for training, download publications and journals, and access the museum and shop. The project also marks Redweb’s first web project using Sitecore 8.1 and its first using Sitecore partner uCommerce to implement ecommerce capabilities.
With the expertise of Redweb’s User Experience consultants and designers, RCS have bought their digital presence into the modern era with a more engaging website that prioritises user-centric design. As part of the project, Redweb has also brought a number of microsites into the Sitecore platform, which will be launched later this year.
