This month has seen work on the new Papworth Hospital step up a gear.
August has seen, on average, 12 trucks each day bringing in concrete and equipment as the frame of the building starts to go up. The deliveries will take place at times that have been chosen to avoid impacting or compounding local traffic congestion.
No weekend work is planned for August on the site this month either.
Expected to open its doors in Spring 2018, Papworth Hospital launched its 1,000-day countdown on 24 July, with a clock on site as well as a virtual clock on the hospital website.
The site also contains all the latest information on the new hospital including the opportunity to keep a close eye on progress on construction with a link to a time-lapse camera.
On the construction site ground-source heat pumps are now starting to be installed and they will reduce the need for the hospital to use energy from the grid to heat and cool the building.
The hospital is being built by Skanska.
