NHS Trusts re-introduce face masks in hospitals

Due to rising cases of flu and other seasonal viruses, several NHS trusts have re-introduced face masks to be worn in clinical areas

The NHS is still facing rising cases of flu, respiratory infections, and other seasonal viruses. In response, several NHS trusts have re-introduced face masks to be worn in clinical areas.

Among the NHS trusts that have re-introduced this policy is NHS Shropshire, Telford, and Wrekin.

This NHS trust stated that face masks must be worn in specified wards and departments that house particularly vulnerable patients such as emergency departments, surgical units, children’s assessment units, respiratory wards, Oncology/Haematology clinics.

The NHS is still facing rising cases of flu, respiratory infections, and other seasonal viruses 

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust has also reintroduced face masks in its emergency departments (EDs) and assessment areas only.

Another Trust that is taking action is Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, the Trust has stated that patients and visitors should wear a face mask in all of Mid Cheshire Hospitals’ clinical locations.
