Seddon begins construction of 70-bed facility in Edgbaston

Seddon has started work on a new £4.2m care home in Edgbaston, Birmingham.

Commissioned by Gracewell Healthcare, the 70-bed facility is being built on the site of the former Birmingham Central Synagogue in Pershore Road. The synagogue will relocate to newly-renovated premises next door, while the existing building will be demolished to make way for the four-storey care facility.

The building has been designed by Pozzoni Architects and will incorporate boutique hotel interior design with leading-edge dementia and specialist care facilities and services. Other features include a hair and beauty spa, nail bar, library and property-wide WiFi access.

The care home is set to be completed in October 2014.

Peter Curtis, chief executive of Gracewell Healthcare, said: “We are creating a new type of care home; one that mixes luxury interiors and surroundings with the highest levels of care, compassion and integrity.”
