Beaulieu Healthcare Centre has officially opened to the public, a new net zero carbon facility that will allow for additional GP clinical space and a training centre.
“The additional clinical space will allow us to recruit more staff, provide more appointments, and even develop a GP training centre to support the health professionals of the future,” said Dr Prasad, Senior GP partner at North Chelmsford Healthcare Centre.
The facility was delivered by Countryside (now part of Vistry) and L&Q.
Hutton Construction was appointed by Countryside and L&Q to carry out the build of the two-storey facility.
The new healthcare centre is designed to BREEAM Excellent standards and built to be net zero carbon in occupation, meaning it produces no fossil fuel emissions from its operation.
The site also incorporates the use of solar panels and smart energy systems.
During a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the centre, elected officials, healthcare leaders and community members came together for a tour.
The site features 13 clinical rooms, two virtual consulting rooms, and a counselling room, offering appointments with GPs, nurses and pharmacists.
Services include medication reviews, blood tests, immunisations, minor wound care, and more.
“It’s wonderful to see this investment in Chelmsford’s primary care infrastructure,” said Marie Goldman, the Liberal Democrat MP for Chelmsford.
Elizabeth Courtauld Partnership took on the lease for the new healthcare centre in August.
The centre will operate as a branch surgery of the Partnership’s North Chelmsford Healthcare Centre.
The opening of Beaulieu Healthcare Centre represents a key milestone in the ongoing development of the Beaulieu neighbourhood, which continues to expand with new homes, schools, and infrastructure, including the recently opened Beaulieu Park Railway Station.
