Musselburgh Primary Care Centre on track for spring opening
Work on £20m community healthcare scheme in East Lothian nears completion
A milestone has been reached in the creation of a new £20m health centre in East Lothian.
External building work is now complete at the site of the Musselburgh Primary Care Centre, paving the way for a spring opening.
The building, measuring 6,312.5sq m boasts a state-of-the-art self-cleaning roof, which enhances the amount of daylight flooding into the boulevard and reception area.
David Small, general manager of East and Midlothian Community Health Partnerships, said: “It’s exciting to see the development take shape and we are on schedule to complete in the spring. The new Musselburgh Primary Care Centre will offer 21st-century care for the people of Musselburgh and the wider community in East Lothian.”
The facility will accommodate three GP practices and a range of other services, including paediatric and adult outpatient clinics, speech and language therapy, clinical psychology, children’s services, podiatry, physiotherapy, and community nursing. There will also be two community dental suites.
Once open, the majority of clinical services currently provided at Edenhall Hospital will transfer to the new centre.
