Medical Air Technology (MAT) is pleased to announce that it has won the contract to refurbish and upgrade an operating theatre at Barnet Hospital, one of three hospitals operated by the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.
MAT worked with the trust and main contractor, Bouygues Energies and Services, to develop the specification and scope of work for the project, which includes improvements and technical enhancements. The theatre will benefit from a complete refurbishment and upgrade, including a touchscreen surgeons’ panel, PACS system, Whiterock wall finishes, new doors, furniture, sanitary-ware, and mechanical and electrical upgrades, including IPS/UPS and theatre lighting.
At the heart of the theatre will be its new ultra-clean ventilation (UCV) canopy, MAT’s ECO-flow 28. MAT introduced the ECO-flow range, which offers significantly reduced energy usage and cost savings without any reduction in the level of efficacy, to support the NHS in its efforts to meet energy efficiency targets. ECO-flow canopies also allow larger clinical clean zones and are exceptionally quiet. They feature an optimised control panel, which allows individual control and monitoring of the fan speeds and control of lighting. It also provides an alarm whenever filters require changing, and links simply to the BMS using the latest protocol. This means the canopies are not only better for the environment and highly cost-effective, but also very user-friendly.
The new facility will give the people of North London access to a wider range of surgery, carried out in world-class facilities.
