A HOSPITAL bed manufacturer is recalling a number of models after concerns over the potential for damage to welds in the frame. All hospitals are being urged to check their stock and take action if they are using the Eleganza Standard and Deluxe model bedframes from Linet UK. Serial numbers 1739003-20053049650 (Standard) and 1752144-20053022252 (Deluxe) are affected and are now the subject of a Medical Safety Alert by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency. Bedframes manufactured after December 2005 are not affected. The warning states: "To eliminate this risk the manufacturer has developed strengthening brackets that can easily be fitted to affected bedframes. The brackets are available from Linet UK and can be fitted by suitably experienced maintenance and service personnel."
