Lincs hospitals MRSA rates fall
HOSPITALS in Lincolnshire are coming out on top in the battle against infections with rates dropping significantly for the fifth year running. New figures show that the number of cases of MRSA in hospitals run by United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust dropped by 61% over the past year to just nine cases. The number of cases of C difficile cases also dropped by 41%. The trust's director of nursing and patient services, Sylvia Knight, said: "The reductions we have seen have been very impressive and I am proud of all our staff, patients and visitors who have helped to ensure that we keep our rates of infections as low as possible. However, we have more work to do as we would like to be able to reduce our rates of infection even further, so that we have no avoidable infections at all in any of our hospitals. We will continue to work hard to achieve that aim."
