Interserve Construction has handed over four operating theatres to Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
The project involved reconfiguration and refurbishment of existing accommodation and upgrading existing operating theatres; thereby helping the hospital to increase its surgical capacity.
Interserve was awarded the contract by the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust as part of the P22 Framework in June last year, with the programme completed over a six-month period.
The scheme is one of a number of projects the contractor is leading on in the Midlands, where the team is also delivering a new emergency department for Walsall Manor Hospital.
Simon Butler, divisional director, said: “Our work at Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital builds on our relationship with University Hospitals Birmingham, following the delivery of the Birmingham Nightingale Hospital last year.
“These high-quality, fast-track projects underscore our expertise and capabilities as a long-term partner to the NHS.”
The project features air pressure stabilisers from Apreco.
