New iOS App helps to keep track of contractions during labour

An innovative mobile App for the Apple iOS devices has been launched to help parents-to-be quickly and easily keep track of contraction cycles during labour.

The new app, Dr Contraction Timer, is now available via the AppStore for the complete Apple device range, optimised specifically for iPhone 5, 6 and 6 plus.

Dr Contraction Timer is the latest app designed specifically for women to help make labour easier by providing a way to measure, calculate and record both contraction length and contraction frequency. The concept is a simple-yet-effective one, making keeping track of contractions stress-free and convenient, allowing women in labour to concentrate on managing their contractions.

Creator, Tove Grindevoll, said: “We're excited to be releasing this app on the AppStore platform. I'm confident women going through labour will quickly see the benefit of not having to worry about timing their contractions manually.”

In addition to recording the relevant times, the app also stores and displays a complete contraction history, which can be shown to their midwife in order to get an indication of how far into the labour the mum-to-be is.

The app will help you register and calculate the length of each contraction and the frequency. The data is stored so mums and their partners can easily view information on the last contraction and provide a complete overview from beginning to the most-current reading.

Features include:

  • Tracking of the date, time, length and frequency of contractions quickly and easily
  • The ability to add useful contact details such as the maternity unit, midwife, local hospital or even a taxi company
  • You can easily remove single contraction data or wipe everything and start over again
  • The app works in sleep mode and also in the background, while the user accesses other phone apps
