Firm rolls out SecureDoc encryption solution

Community health provider, Healthcare at Home, has rolled out WinMagic’s SecureDoc encryption solution to protect sensitive data across multiple platforms.

Patient data held on laptops, desktops and on removable media is now protected in line with the latest privacy and security regulations, significantly reducing the possibility of a data breach.

The solution will be used by more than 1,000 staff who provide clinical services to 150,000 patients a year in the comfort of their own home rather than in the traditional hospital setting.

Spokesman, Damian Byrne, said: “Treatment outside of the hospital setting is preferred by most patients, and has been shown to improve treatment outcomes and reduce treatment costs. Maximum data availability and security are key factors in enabling our specialist clinical teams to provide an ever-increasing range of treatments that would have traditionally required the patient to travel to the hospital on a regular basis.”

SecureDoc requires authentication at pre-boot to ensure maximum security and full integration with network support. This makes it easier to authenticate users, enforce access controls, and manage end-point devices prior to the operating system loading.

Garry McCracken, vice president of technology partnerships at WinMagic, said, “WinMagic is extremely proud to be named as a data security supplier for Healthcare at Home. We are constantly developing new technologies to combat the risk of data breaches and our innovations have been responsible for eliminating many of the traditional barriers to data protection, making it just as easy to deploy, manage and use encrypted devices. The security of sensitive patient data is of paramount importance and we are committed to ensuring that every measure has been taken in line with the latest privacy and security regulations.”
