Primary care centre set to open later this year

The Healthcare Property Company Wales is developing a modern primary care centre in the village of Brynhyfryd.

Once complete, the building will allow for more medical services to be delivered to the local community - a long-awaited and much-needed resource for those living in the area.

The 1,290sq m, custom-built surgery will contain a modern reception area, seven consultation rooms, two treatment rooms, and will have facilities to carry out minor operations. This means that patients can receive a greater proportion of their healthcare treatment in one place, thereby reducing the necessity to visit a hospital.

There will also be a small clinical space for the local health board and a Lewis Chemist pharmacy, with staff and patient parking to the front of the building.

“We are delighted to have had the opportunity to develop such a wonderful facility for the patients, doctors and staff of the health board and Brynhyfryd Surgery and know they will all enjoy this new facility for years to come,” said Paul Stacey, HPC Wales managing director.

Financed by MedicX Fund and developed by HPC Wales, the new surgery is expected to be completed by the end of the year. It will be situated just a short distance from the existing practice and is being designed to achieve a BREEAM ‘very good’ rating and ‘excellent’ rating for energy efficiency.
