Across September 2026, healthcare technology developments spanned AI-enabled clinical care, digital patient communications, connected imaging, workforce technology and NHS technology procurement.

Among the announcements were new AI-supported services for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and primary care, a new approach to sharing point-of-care ultrasound scans, and digital tools aimed at improving patient communications, staffing and healthcare administration.

AI and digital transformation platforms

Aide Health launches AI Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) programme: Aide Health has launched a six-month programme across six primary care networks in North West London to provide people with COPD with AI-powered support between appointments.

The app provides medication reminders, symptom tracking and condition-specific information, while giving clinical teams greater insight into patients’ symptoms and medication use.

DYAD raises $10m for healthcare AI expansion: UK healthcare AI company DYAD has raised $10m in a Series A funding round led by Sangha Capital to expand its technology across primary and secondary care.

Its GENIE platform converts unstructured clinical documents into structured data, with its BetterLetter product already used by more than 200 GP surgeries.

Lifebit launches AI Scientist Studio: Lifebit has launched AI Scientist Studio, enabling researchers to build and deploy AI agents within secure Federated Trusted Research Environments.

The platform is designed to allow frontier AI models to analyse governed health and genomic data without patient-level data leaving its source environment.

Tandem Health raises $100m for European healthcare AI: Tandem Health has raised $100m in a Series B funding round led by EQT’s Scaleup Europe Fund to expand its AI technology across European healthcare.

The company’s AI Medical Assistant supports clinicians with patient summaries, clinical decision support, documentation and coding.

InTouchNow raises £2.3m for NHS primary care AI: UK AI company InTouchNow has raised £2.3m in seed funding to expand its AI voice agent across NHS general practice.

The technology handles patient calls, including appointment booking and routine administrative tasks, and is already being used by more than 150 practices.

Imperial and Hillingdon launch AI-powered patient service centre: Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have launched a digitally enabled Patient Service Centre using Netcall technology to bring together phone, email, web chat and messaging. 

AI tools support staff with patient queries, while automated services handle routine requests and help reduce administrative workload.

Liverpool Women’s cuts missed appointments with accessible digital communications: Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust has introduced multilingual and accessible patient communications using Netcall’s Patient Hub, helping patients receive translated letters and texts and access braille and large-print communications. 

The Trust said the programme has reduced missed appointments by an average of 18%, rising to 32% in some pathways, while cutting printing and postage costs by 68%.
