Company leads refurbishment and new-build projects in Portsmouth, Jersey, and Dorset

A trio of dental projects have been given a clean bill of health.

Henderson Green played a key role in the refurbishment and new-build projects in Portsmouth, Jersey, and Dorset.

The consultancy, which is at the forefront of sustainable building services engineering, was brought on board for the state-of-the-art refurbishment of the 100-year-old Blandford Community Hospital in Dorset.

The Portman Ward has been redesigned to incorporate a new dental suite as part of a bigger project with a mix of functions including an occupational therapy suite, a recovery ward, and a clinic for ambulatory care.

The building now features two state-of-the-art dental rooms in addition to a shielded X-ray room and Henderson Green's mechanical designs include a comfort cooling system, a replacement heating system, and modifications to the hot and cold water distribution and ventilation system.

Henderson Green’s designs included a complete rewiring of the ward to support a new nurse call system, low-energy LED lighting, and a new analogue addressable fire detection system.

The consultancy also helped to upgrade Jersey General Hospital's dental facility, including the replacement of dental chairs and the essential clinical services that support the services.

It also carried out the mechanical and electrical design of Phase 2 of the £5.5m Dental Outreach Centre linked to the Faculty of Science at the University of Portsmouth.

Russ Pitman, Henderson Green’s managing director, said: “We're delighted to be putting our extensive healthcare knowledge into play with these three very different projects.”

"The dental setting requires a unique set of skills and a thorough understanding of the healthcare environment, whether it's a century-old building or a contemporary new build.”
