UK-based GRAHAM has been performing upgrades at the live hospital and has hit an important energy milestone in the project

Engineering and facilities expert GRAHAM has finished an electrical upgrade at Whittington Hospital.

The UK-based company has been at the centre of a £100m development at the hospital that is taking place in the live hospital environment.

This includes an extension for maternity and neonatal services, as well as fire remediation, and infrastructure upgrade works.

For this specific part of the project, the hospital’s electrical cables were connected to a new high-voltage power supply.

This has boosted the power from 2,600 KVA to 8,500 KVA.

This milestone is crucial for supporting the hospital’s growing operations and future projects, including the maternity transformation.

Benefits of the upgrade include:

  • Significant savings in electricity costs
  • An 80% reduction in carbon emissions in the local area

“This achievement is testament to the hard work and collaboration of our team, the estates & facilities teams, project partners, and key Trust leaders and is part of the wider delivery of a major tranche of work at Whittington Hospital, London, for Whittington Health NHS Trust,” GRAHAM stated.

We look forward to the positive impact this transformative project will have on Whittington Hospital and the local community.

GRAHAM performs many services for healthcare industries, including construction, civil engineering, interior fit-out, facilities management and investments.

Whittington Hospital has also recently had its operating theatres refurbished by Storm Building.
