Coventry Hospital reviews Skanska contract after fault in path lab
UNIVERSITY Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust is reviewing a contract with its facilities subcontractor after a ventilation fault was found in the Coventry hospital's pathology laboratories. The board are so concerned about the 'safety breach' they are considering invoking a get-out clause and having the deal with Skanska Facilities Services cancelled. Andy Hardy, chief executive at the trust, said: "Although no staff were harmed, given the seriousness of this breach we felt we had to act. While we know that many may see this as an opportunity to get a contract re-negotiated, this is not our motivation here. This is about ensuring our services are run safely at all times and that our suppliers are held to account."
