Circle Health Group, the UK’s largest independent hospital, has acquired Fairfield Independent Hospital, a 28-bed private hospital located in St Helens, Merseyside.
The move marks the latest addition to the independent healthcare provider’s growing network of hospitals across the UK, further strengthening its presence in the North West.
Under the new ownership, Fairfield Independent Hospital is set to undergo a significant transformation, with a comprehensive refurbishment programme scheduled to commence in 2025.

The redevelopment will build on Fairfield’s established reputation for delivering high-quality patient care, while integrating Circle Health Group’s expertise in operational efficiency and clinical service development.
A central focus of the investment will be on enhancing theatre efficiencies and reducing patient length of stay for surgical procedures.
To support this, Circle Health Group has confirmed plans to install a mobile MRI scanner on site, expanding the hospital’s in-house diagnostic capabilities and reducing reliance on external imaging services.
In addition to clinical upgrades, the wider refurbishment will involve modernising key areas of the hospital
