The design of healthcare buildings and their interiors is crucial to the effective delivery of medical services. But, equally important, are the support services and that is why the Building Better Healthcare Awards recognises the role of estates and facilities management in the creation of outstanding healthcare environments.
3 awards in the Estate and Facilities Management class
This year there are three awards reflecting the all-important role estates and facilities management teams play
Best Carbon Reduction Initiative:
The first category reflects the recent challenge set by the Government for the NHS to become carbon neutral by 2040 and the judges will be looking for a single initiative, or series of initiatives, that are helping to reduce energy use and an organisation’s overall carbon footprint. Entries can come from health or social care organisations and their industry partners.
Best Patient Safety Initiative:
The award for Best Patient Safety Initiative recognises the current drive to improve patient safety across health and social care settings and will be presented to a project in either the health or social care sector that can demonstrate measurable improvements in patient outcomes or a reduction in ‘never events’ and similar problems.
Estates and Facilities Team of the Year:
And we will be looking to reward the teams behind these incredible efforts with the award for Estates and Facilities Team of the Year, which covers both in-house and contractors across both public and privately-operated health and social care organisations, including hard and soft services such as laundry, catering, cleaning, infection control; and estates functions including refurbishment, repairs, utilities, carbon reduction and more.
