More than 220 entries battle it out for 16 prizes in celebration of healthcare design

The deadline has now arrived for nominations for this year’s Building Better Healthcare Awards, with another record number of nominations.

Reflecting changes in the healthcare sector, the award categories were altered for 2012, with a total of 16 titles up for grabs, covering the built environment, medical technology, medical devices, project teams and estates and facilities management.

In total, there have been more than 220 nominations for 2012, including 23 in the Specialist Services category, 26 in the Inpatient Facilities class, and 23 in the Out-of-Hospital Care Facility category.

The patient environment class has also attracted a large number of entries, with 62 nominations in the three categories covering Interior Design, Use of the Arts, and External or Landscaping Project.

And this year has seen a record number of products and systems battling it out in the new Technology class. The nominations will be judged under three categories: Improving Productivity, Improving the Patient Experience and Improving Patient Outcomes. Among the entries are a deep cleaning system, a hand hygiene compliance technology, a compression system for venous leg ulcers, and a new non-invasive treatment for osteoarthritis.

The esteemed panel of judges, chaired by NHS commentator, Roy Lilley, will meet in early September to choose their favourites from all the entries, which will then make it onto the shortlist. The final winners will be unveiled at a ceremony on 7 November in central London.

Tables at the event, which includes a drinks reception and four-course meal, are limited, so book now to avoid disappointment. There are also a small number of sponsorship opportunities and exhibition spaces left, offering the chance to promote your brand to the 500-plus guests from the NHS and supply sector.
